WHAT COURSES YOU SHOULD TAKE IN COMMERCIAL COOKERY?

The full course of Commercial Cookery in Australia comprise of:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery: Normally 1 year duration course with both theory and practical training. A mandatory workplace training of 10 weeks in hotels, restaurants, cafes or coffee shops partner with the institution.

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery: Normally 6 months course for students completed certificate III in Commercial Cookery. This course is enough to become a qualified Chef.

During those courses you are required to complete a total of 360 hours of work placement.

  • Diploma of Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery Pathway)

Plus, most of combination courses of certificate 3, Certificate 4 and Diploma will not fulfill the 2 years study or even longer time to complete in Australia for Visa 485 (Graduate Work Stream), as a results, colleges and Training institutions have created a package of 2 years course included Certificate 3, Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management with 360 hours of placement during the courses for TRA Skill Assessment. Moreover, those packaged courses in Commercial Cookery seems to be more reliable and affordable than taking it separately.

After completing those courses, Skilled migrants can start to do Skill Assessment with TRA as in Job Ready Program.

Apply for 485 visa (Graduate work stream)

After completing a 2 year packaged course, you are eligible for applying a 485 visa with a Provisional Skill Assessment from TRA (SKill Assessing Authority)

Requirements for 485 visa application:

  • Satisfy 2 years Australiann study requirement (Package 2 year course is perfect)

  • Ielts 6 Overall - NO band less than 5

  • Your nominated occupation is required to be in MLTSSL.

  • Have a positive Provisional Skill Assessment

Common Mistakes : There are some misunderstanding of the period of time that you are still eligible to apply for Visa Subclass 485. You can only apply for 485 visa in the period of 6 months after your COURSE COMPLETION DATE ! Please note it is different from Visa Expiry date.
