Step 1: Enrol for a course

There are a wide ranges of options depending on your visa history especially your visa 485 (Post study work visa - Graduate Work visa) status. As you may know, Visa 485 happens only once a lifetime for a single person. The advantage of visa 485 Graduate Work is that you will have a full work right in Australia after your course completion which allows you time to gain experience and apply for skilled visa - Permanent Resident (Visa 190, Visa 491 or visa 189). However, there are ways to legally stay in Australia and fulfill your state nomination criteria for your migration purpose.

Depending on that, you may be able to help yourself choose a trade course for PR with suitable course duration of 1 year or 2 years.

Step 2: Apply for 485 visa or visa 500

Step 3: Complete Skill Assessment requirement

While on the 485 visa, complete the 12 month Job Ready Program (JRP) through TRA. It is for international student graduates who hold an Australian qualification issued by a CRICOS registered training organisation based on studies in Australia and can lead to a positive skills assessment.

For occupation assessed by VETASSESS, 1 year related work experience post qualification is needed (part time or full time with minimum 20 hours a week) to apply for skill assessment.

Step 4: APPLY FOR SKILLED VISA (190, 491, 189) OR EMPLOYER SPONSORED VISA(TSS 482,494)

After receiving a positive skills assessment, you may be eligible for the TSS 482 visa, 491 Regional Skilled visa, 494 Employer Sponsored Regional visa and if you have enough points for other Skilled visas (189 and 190 visa).
