The Trade Courses that are most likely to lead to Permanent Resident in Australia

Not every courses are guaranteed to result in Australian permanent resident status even in higher education and neither are trade courses. However, there are some areas of study that can increase your opportunities for PR in Australia because of their job market and opportunities, even in regional area which boost up your chances of success in applying for permanent residency.

Those are the trade courses that you should look at for Permanent Resident Purpose:

Plumbing: There’s high demand for qualified plumbers in Australia to support new commercial, residential, and industrial construction development. Strong employment ability and competitive salary available. Certificate 3 in Plumbing is eligible for TRA Skill Assessment

Wall and Floor Tiling: Growing construction sector in Australia has created high demand for wall and floor tiling professionals. A certificate 3 is eligible for TRA Skill assessment.

Carpentry: Qualified carpenters can find strong job opportunities in the construction industry. A trade certificate covers material handling, setting out, wall and ceiling framing, measurement and calculation techniques, and a range of construction procedures. A certificate 3 in Carpentry is eligible for TRA Skill assessment.

English Language Skills

Competent English (Ielts 6.0 and Equivalent): 0 pt

Proficient English (Ielts 7.0 and Equivalent): 10 pts

Superior English (Ielts 8.0 and Equivalent): 20 pts


Skilled employment experience

  • Overseas Skilled Employment - ( Outside Australia)

Less than 3 years : 0 pt

At least 3 but less than 5 years: 5 pts

At least 5 but less than 8 years: 10 pts

At least 8 years : 15 pts

  • Australian Skilled Employment - ( in Australia)

Less than 1 year: 0 pt

At least 1 but less than 3 years: 5 pts

At least 3 but less than 5 years: 10 pts

At least 5 but less than 8 years: 15 points

At least 8 years: 20 pts

IMPORTANT:

You can only claim points for employment if the employment was in your nominated skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation; and you were employed for the relevant periods set out in the table, in the 10 years before you are invited to apply.

  • For any Australian employment you must have held a substantive visa or a Bridging A or Bridging B visa and complied with the conditions of that visa to be eligible for points.

Employed means engaged in an occupation for remuneration for at least 20 hours a week.

Closely-related occupations must be:

  • in the same ANZSCO Unit Group or

  • consistent with a career advancement pathway or

  • recognised by an assessing authority that it is closely related to your nominated occupation, as part of your skills assessment


eDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma or Trade Qualification from an Australian Educational institution: 10 Pts

Australian study requirement

Meet the Australian study requirement: 5 pts

You must have at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution that meets the Australian study requirement.


Study in regional Australia

If you complete the course in Regional arrea wwith at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification, you will be eligible for Study in Regional Australia. No Online study accepted, must live and study in that designated regional area.

5 points added if you are eligible.


Partner Skills

Single: 10 points

Partner with skill assessment and competent english: 10 points

Partner with competent English only: 5 points

Your spouse or de facto partner must also be an applicant for this visa and meet age, English or skill criteria


nomination

Invited to apply for subclass 190 (Skilled- Nominated) visa and the nominating State or Territory government agency has not withdrawn the nomination : 5 points

Invited to apply for subclass 491 (Skilled- Regional) Provisional visa and the nominating State or Territory government agency has not withdrawn the nomination : 15 points


Normally Tradies are having enough points for applying for visa 190 or 491 which requires only 65 points to sign in.
